Round Church Street and the old town, the houses are old and timber-framed, with low ceilings, uneven floors and doors that have been planed so many times they no longer fit. They want a carpenter who is used to working with that rather than against it.
Up the hills it is more Victorian and Edwardian terraces and later semis. Doors, skirting, floors, built-in storage, and kitchens fitted in rooms where nothing is quite level.
