Handyman & repairs

A handyman in Amersham who is a carpenter first.

Most handymen can put a shelf up. Fewer can rehang a door that has dropped, splice a new end on a rotten sill, or tell you why the floor creaks.

Send me the list. If the jobs fit in a morning, I will say so.

Small jobs

No job too small to do properly

Small jobs often go to whoever will turn up. I turn up when I say I will, do it right, and you have a carpenter to call next time.

  • Small jobs welcome
  • Several jobs in one visit
  • Arrive when I say I will
  • Proper tools for the job
  • Tidy when I leave
  • Open seven days

01 / Repairs

Repairs around the house

The jobs that have been on the list for a year. Doors that stick, a window sill gone soft, a creaking stair, a gate that drags on the path. I come out, sort them, and leave it tidy.

Fireplaces too: firebacks out, hearths made good and the opening boarded or framed for a new stove.

  • Sticking doors and windows
  • Rotten sills and frames
  • Creaking stairs and floorboards
  • Gates and fences
  • Firebacks removed
  • Several jobs in one visit

A pale oak herringbone floor laid tight to new white skirting in the corner of a room

02 / Flat-pack & assembly

Flat-pack & kit assembly

Flat-pack goes together better with the right tools and someone who has done it before. Wardrobes fixed back to the wall, beds that do not wobble, cabinets lined up.

Garden sheds and summerhouses in kit form, put up on a level base.

  • Wardrobes and drawers
  • Beds and cabinets
  • Garden sheds and summerhouses
  • Fixed safely to the wall
  • Packaging taken away
  • Doors and drawers adjusted

03 / Odd jobs

Shelves, boxing in & odd jobs

Small jobs are still worth doing well. Shelves that are level and stay on the wall, boxing that hides the pipes without a gap, a handrail that does not move when you lean on it.

Ring with the list. If it is a morning, I will tell you, and fit it in.

  • Shelves and brackets
  • Pipes and cables boxed in
  • Curtain poles and blinds
  • Handrails and banisters
  • Loft hatches and ladders
  • Bits and pieces from your list
